Suddenly Human Meme

The Suddenly Human Meme!
Also known as "Io doesn't know how to do fancy formatting, deal with it." Sorry folks.

Look at your nonhuman muses. What are they? Robots? Gods? Mythical creatures? Aliens? Science experiments gone wrong? Animate chalk drawings? Eldritch abominations from beyond?

Well, none of that matters anymore cause they just done got turned human.

How? Why? I don't know! Maybe it's a magical curse, or science happened, or they died and got reborn, or they just plain woke up that way
. You're all creative people! Come up with something cool! Or don't, and let your muses angst about it in the dark, whatever. I know you like to torture them; that's half the fun of memes like this.

So here's how it's going to work:

Nonhuman muses, post top-levels!

You are suddenly very human, and mortal. Have fun with that.

Any muse can tag in!
Maybe you also got turned human, and misery loves company after all. Maybe you didn't, and are just here to point and laugh in their face. Maybe you're someone who always was human and is just getting dragged into this, or helping the former nonhuman cope.

GO WILD. \o/

[Y'KNOW, IT'S A FUNNY STORY....]

[But he can't just say that! It would sound ridiculous, for one thing. "Hey, he's usually a noncorporeal dream demon who makes deals with horrifying consequences, but yeah, sure, let him wear my pants!"]

I don't care if it's harsh! Look, me n' this guy have got a bit of a, a history, alright? I'm not gonna get into the details, but you couldn't pay me to trust him for even a second. He's a lying, manipulative monster. Even if he is telling the truth about the amnesia, which I doubt, I don't want him around here!

It's... Alright, remember how Gideon kept breakin' into the Shack to get what he needed? Bill's done that in spades. I can't trust him, and that's that.

...

You're... really serious, aren't you?

[Bill pauses again, putting a crestfallen, even guilty look on his face. Effortlessly he wears the expression and tone of a man with almost no memory being told they have a past of lies and manipulation, enough to be called a monster. The character has taken center stage.]

Listen, Stan, I hardly remember anything about the last time we met. But it sounds like... I did some pretty awful stuff, stuff that if I did remember? I'd probably regret a lot...

[He walks over to Stan and puts an arm around his shoulder, as a show of willing friendliness, and smiles like he understands how the old man feels but wants to find resolution nonetheless.]

Whatever happened between us, though? It's in the past, and LONG gone! Maybe I did some untrustworthy things then, but if so that's a me that's long gone too! That was then, this is now! And I can't think of a better time than now without those old memories to put all that behind us, and get a new, fresh start, yaknow?

[Bill holds up his other hand, offering to shake.]

So... what d'ya say? No hard feelings?

[Stan rolls his eyes and slaps away Bill's hand in disgust.]

Nice try, pal. I'm not convinced.

[Regret shmet. If Bill knew what he'd done he'd laugh about it. Which is probably why he's so smiley now. He's always like this...]

If you wanna have your fresh start, go do it somewhere FAR away from me and the kids.

[Stan's slap is impressively forceful, largely due to the old man being much stronger than he maybe looks (if keeping a horde of zombies at bay with not much more than a pair of brass knuckles was any indication), and slapping away Bill. It actually hurts quite a bit, causing the former energy being to wince and hold the hand that Stan hit.]

Y-OOWWW! That isn't funny!!

[That... that isn't funny...]

[Why would... that be funny...?
All of a sudden it hits Bill, like a shot to a mirror that makes it shatter instantly. His hands lower, falling to his sides. This wasn't the very first time he was ever in the physical world. This wasn't the first time at all.
When he previously had, it'd been in someone else's body. He could remove a human's consciousness from their body and inhabit it himself, until he was released when it fell asleep. Since it was so short-term it usually wasn't worth the effort, but he had done it before on several occasions. Possessing a body meant the sensations he experienced were far more "real" than in the mindscape... so even pain was an alien, but wonderfully fascinating feeling.
This... this was nothing like that. There was nothing interesting about it, it was entirely unpleasant... it simply hurt.
But that's not why Bill has now gone pale and speechless, with his only eye wide.
It's because he was only remembering this now. Why didn't he remember?
He starts shaking as he feels his heart race inside his chest... which just makes things worse, as it serves to remind him of his situation. What's HAPPENING here? Why did he forget about inhabiting bodies before? He didn't REALLY have amnesia, that was just part of the act, wasn't it?
... Wasn't it?

Then again, he couldn't even remember how or why he came to be in this body in this first place, this body that wasn't anyone but his...
So what else... did he forget...?
Still trembling badly he places his hands on either side of his head, as though on the verge of breakdown. As to why Stan might not have a clue, but to Wendy it may look to be because of having no memories, no money, and nowhere to go.
Although at this point appearances are the last thing on his mind. He has no absolutely idea what's going on anymore... and he's scared. Honestly and truly scared.
And it's taking every last ounce of his willpower not to completely panic.]

[If Stan's explanation had given Wendy any doubt as to whether Bill was telling the truth, his expression now is doing a damn good job of leeching that doubt away.

Of course, it's a pretty real expression now, isn't it?

She gives him a concerned look, biting her lip and debating whether she should put a hand on his shoulder or something. She starts to reach out, but pulls back a bit, glancing between him and Stan.]

Dude, uh... you okay?

[She doesn't have any idea who's in the right here. Neither of them look like they're lying at all, and while she's more inclined to trust Stan than a stranger, it really doesn't sit right with her to just throw this guy to the wolves, so to speak.

Man, she's almost wishing this had just been another normal day.]

[Wow, Bill. Overreacting much?]

He's fine.

[Stan gives him a whap on the back to snap him out of it. PREPARE FOR PAIN.]

[If he could respond to you at all right now, Wendy, he'd tell you that he's alright. Except like much of what he's said up until now, that would be a lie. He's not okay. He's far, FAR from okay, which means he's definitely not fine, Stan.
The slap to his back hits while he's extremely off guard, and it's even more impactful than what Stan did to his hand a moment ago. It causes Bill to let out a yell as he's knocked off his feet and onto his knees, feeling the pain humorlessly surge through his back. He locks up, paralyzed... but is heading towards total meltdown fast.
Possessing a body meant getting expelled from it back to the mindscape once it was unconscious. He's convinced that won't work here. This isn't a possession, he's been repeatedly, painfully (literally) reminded of that already. He's trapped... trapped in this damn body, a prison made of flesh.
And he wants out. He wants out he wants out he wants out HE WANTS OUT HE WANTS OUT!!!

Suddenly he gets back on his feet and makes a dash for Wendy's ax, quickly grabbing it from her before she has any chance to react or stop him. But instead of attacking anyone else, which Stan might be expecting and preparing to forcefully prevent if it looks for even a split second like Bill is going to, in his unsteady hands he holds the bladed end to his neckline, as if about to drag it straight down his chest...
Stan might assume this is just desperation (although it is, but not in the way he's thinking), like he would really do it, but to Wendy it shouldn't look like anything except this dude's about to cut himself open.
And whether he's serious or not, it's doubtful she wants to take that chance.]

Whoa, whoa, WHOA!

[It's probably a good thing that Wendy barely thinks, just reacts. She's after him in a second, grabbing the axe handle back and wresting it out of his shaky grip.

Hey, she may be wiry, but she's not the daughter of the manliest lumberjack in town for nothing.]

All right, that's it! You are NOT okay, and you're coming with me. Sorry, Mr. Pines, I gotta cut this shift short. See ya.

[And with that, she's grabbing Bill's hand and all but dragging him out of the shack, ignoring whatever Stan might say about it.]

[Stan doesn't think much of Bill's pained reaction at first- he didn't hit him that hard, and they've been in worse scuffs before. But the second he goes for that axe, Stan assumes the worst. Luckily Wendy gets that under control before anything really bad can happen, but it keeps him on edge.]

[He might've even been impressed with Wendy's quick reaction, if she didn't just storm off with him.]

Fine!

[To follow or not to follow? Wendy has no idea what she's getting into, and Bill's acting weird even by his standards. He decides to hang around the door and see if he can overhear anything from outside.
